Energy storage

Today’s rechargeable batteries are based on lithium technology. Lithium is an alkali metal, just like sodium. Then why does sodium batteries nit get as much attention as lithium batteries?

Sodium batteries does not have as high output effect and energy density as lithium batteries. However, sodium is inexpensive and readily available. Batteries of this type can ideally be used as large scale energy storage in connection to solar power plants to provide energy during darker hours.

Biokol have developed hard carbon as anode material for sodium-ion batteries and are currently involved in projects on this subject.
